THE destiny of several Area Championships will be decided at the Albrighton Woodland Point-to-Point at Chaddesley Corbett on Monday.

One of the major issues to be concluded will be the ladies championship, with Jane Williams currently holding a narrow advantage over Annabel Dalton.

Shifnal based Dalton took the trophy last year, but prior to that it had been with the Williams family in Enville.

Dalton’s title aspirations were dented when she suffered concussion in a fall at Cheltenham’s Hunter Chase meeting, but she has made a swift recovery and was back in action last weekend.

Alcarson and Oliver Wadlow will be there to benefit from any mistakes made by the opposition, while a placed effort is the best on offer to Whistling Straits.

Yorkshire-based Jacqueline Coward and Bridget Andrews from East Anglia are both chasing the National Title and with just a few weeks of the season remaining, a win at this time of year could be crucial to the outcome.

Amicelli is a force of old but still retains ability, while stablemate Botany Cove is a possible alternative in the 10-year-old and over Conditions.

Andrews is due to team up with Blue Gun and these two riders will be pulling out all the stops to claim victory.

Brimham Boy struggled to get home earlier in the season but current conditions should be in his favour so a surprise result cannot be discounted.

Interpleader and Bobs Law finished first and second at Bredwardine last week and could renew rivalry in the Men's Open.

Silver Token, Noble Ben and Basil Fawlty are others of interest, while they will all have to beat Lake Legend to claim victory.

The Coward/Andrews rivalry is set to continue in the Conditions where potential mounts for the former include Billing or Botany Cove, while Andrews is linked with Exitable Island.

Minella for Party caught the eye earlier in the season while Quatuor Collonges has caused a surprise at this meeting in the past.

Mark Wall holds the key to this race with Getmeouthedoldrums or Scenic Route, although the latter is said to prefer right handed courses.

The Open Maiden brings down the curtain on the West Midland season but the race definitely has an end of season look about it, and you could run the same race five times and get five different results.

Success for All for Cash would be popular because rider John Smith Maxwell’s family has a long association with this course. Grand Silence seems to be a permanent bridesmaid and unfortunately it is difficult to see that sequence being broken.

Wall’s mount Preparedepierre form seems to have gone downhill since the start of the season.

The action starts at 1.30pm.
