WYRE Forest Phoenix have been named Worcestershire FA’s Charter Standard Development club for the year.

The club, in only its second season, received the McDonald’s community award, which recognises the tireless efforts of volunteers, coaches and players.

They have also been put forward to the regional finals.

Meanwhile, Phoenix’s under-12s edged out Evesham 1-0 in their final game of the season.

Keeper Bethany Savaged produced several fine saves in the first half to keep the scores level.

But Wyre Forest started the second period strongly and Izzy Smith fired home from a tight angle after being set up by Jessica Jenkins.

The defence then held firm to ensure the win and finish a very successful season in fourth place.
