BEWDLEY Town’s hopes of ending the season with some silverware came to an end when they were shot down 4-1 by Ellesmere Rangers on Saturday.
A Marco Adaggio hat-trick ensured the Shropshire-based side progressed into the semi-finals of the West Midlands League Cup.
Chris Hough, playing his final game for Town, scored but James O’Reilly was also on target for Rangers.
Despite defeat, Town have ended the season on a high.
A ten game unbeaten streak ensured they finished the West Midlands Premier in seventh-place, an impressive feat considering Town struggled with a lengthy break because of rain.
But the management team Craig Payton and Bryan Lacey can be pleased with the squad they have left for new boss Phil Mullen, who now takes the reins.
Meanwhile, the club will be holing their annual golf day at Bewdley Pines on July 18.
