A CREW from Bewdley Rowing Club stormed to silver at the National Masters.

The Women’s C quintet of Kim Martyn Smyth, Jean Main, Jane Chiswell, Helen Hugo and cox Kat Carlyle easily raced to victory over the 1,000 metres in the semi-finals to book their place in the title medal decider.

The Bewdley boat, making their debut at this level, were against rivals which boasted ex-world champions and a former Henley Regatta winner.

But this did not stop the crew from winning a well-deserved silver medal in a race where they only just missed out on the gold medal by two seconds.

Louise Camm and Serena Gammond (36 to 42 age group) and Zoe Benson and Sally Levelle (43 to 50) also reached their finals.

British Rowing are supporting Bewdley RC and Stourport Boat Club to develop daytime rowing by providing a coach to help start up and help run sessions on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
