JASBIR Singh has vowed to prove himself after joining Kidderminster Harriers for a second time.

The goalkeeper, 24, put pen to paper on a one-year deal this week as a replacement for the departing Nathan Vaughan and competition for Danny Lewis.

It is the second time the former Shrewsbury shot-stopper has had a spell at Aggborough, although Singh has promised to grab the chance to play full-time football.

He was signed by former boss Mark Yates at the start of the 2009-10 season as cover for Dean Coleman.

But after only five appearances in the Football League, he was released by then new boss Steve Burr.

Singh signed for Solihull Moors and became a stalwart of Marcus Bignot’s side, making 192 appearances for the Conference North outfit.

“The last time I was at Harriers, I was only the number two and was on a month-by-month deal,” Singh said.

“To be fair, Steve Burr gave me a chance to stake a claim but I was released.

“At the time I felt a bit bitter about it, but I realise it was the making of me.

“I feel I have improved a lot since then and Marcus Bignot has helped me to develop my game so much.

“When Mark Creighton sounded me out about it, I realised this another chance at full-time football.

“This is my second chance at Harriers and I want to prove myself here.”

Singh’s capture was sparked by Vaughan’s decision not to sign a new deal.

The popular shot-stopper made 28 appearances in the league and FA Cup for Harriers over two seasons and played an important role in helping the Reds recover from a poor start to the 2012-13 season.

Kidderminster now have 16 players secured for next season but are still awaiting responses from Mickey Demetriou, Aman Verma and Marvin Johnson over deals to remain at Aggborough.

It is unlikely Amari Morgan-Smith will return after manager Gary Whild brought in Reece Styche and Craig Reid to bolster the strike force.

Meanwhile, Geoff Coles, chairman of fans’ trust KHIST, has ended months of negotiations to become the group’s representative on Harriers’ board of directors.

The two parties have been locked in discussions ever since John Davies ended his two-year spell in the role last November.

Harriers chairman Ken Rae said: “We’re delighted to have Geoff on board, he will bring a lot to the board.

“As chairman of KHIST, he is in a great position to represent the trust and understands the role.

“It is important to have a link with the fans.

“When Steve Burr left the club in January, we could not fully explain what had happened because of confidentiality agreements.

“A connection with the fans may well have helped in that situation.”

Coles added: “I am privileged to be representing KHIST on the club board and look forward to commencing this exciting role.

“I would also like to thank everyone for their patience while we have undertaken discussions with the club to secure representation.”
