ROD Brown has told departed duo Jamie Willetts and Jordan Jones they are welcome to play for Stourport Swifts again.

The influential pair have been tempted away from Walshes Meadow to play in at a higher level.

Centre back Willetts has joined Midland Alliance champions Tividale, who have been promoted to the Evo-Stik Northern League Division One South.

Attacking right-sided player Jones has been snapped up by Calor Southern League Premier outfit Redditch United.

“We want to see young players progress and do well, so there’s definitely no hard feelings,” said Stourpor’ts manager.

“Jordan turned down a chance to move to Redditch last season so but he and Jamie will always be welcome at the club.”

Brown had already done a lot of his hard work in the transfer window, bringing in youngsters Bradd Jones, Joe Mogg and Nathan DuMont as well as midfielder Michael McGrath.

Experienced pair Karl Fellows and Kevin Spencer also available again.

Brown is keen to bring in one or two older heads to help his large contingent of younger players and he was hoping to draft in midfielder Alex Cowley.

Meanwhile, the players have been working hard in pre-season training.

Brown has been pleased to have averaged about 18 players during the first six training sessions.

He said: “The players have all came back in okay shape and they have also worked very hard. With every session their fitness is improving.”
