GOLF: Josh Carpenter was in great form competing in Clebury Mortimer’s Double Roll-Up tournament.

He set a new course record, his second at the club, on the Deer Park and Foxes Run loop, firing a five under gross 64 to seal 41 points.

Stu Humphries, armed with a new set of clubs, and Spike Broad, fresh off a series of lessons with head coach Phil Moore, posted 37 points to move up the leader board, before form player Scott Severn posted 40 straight after his driver clinic with Moore, which surprisingly only managed to seal him third place.

Narrowly missing out on top spot on count back was Josh Rowbotham with 41 points, who has seen his handicap tumble over the last few months and is knocking at the door for a scratch team call up.

Meanwhile, at last week’s Texas Scramble, the team of Ian Dorrell, Rob Pinner, Jim Went and Andy Young were triumphant.

Early starters Tony Willets, Bob Lucas, John Westley and Paul Liggins thought they had done enough as they were leading all the way up until the afternoon tee times.

John Brazier, Pat Collins, Andy Galliard and Alex Brazier shot a 56.7 to miss out on top spot by just 0.4, making the situation even worse was the fact that they bogeyed the third hole on Deer Park.
