Swifts 0, Harriers 4

HARRIERS recorded their first pre-season win of the summer as they dominated at local rivals Stourport Swifts on Tuesday night.

Goals for Nathan Blissett, Michael Gash, Jack Byrne and trialist Reece Hales wrapped up an encouraging display.

Manager Gary Whild will have been pleased with the contributions of trialist Jake Green, who looked lively on the right wing and at full-back.

Whild fielded a very strong start XI but three in trialists Green and former Stevenage youth team player Jay Dhillon.

Right-back Jared Hodgkiss also made his first Kidderminster start since recovering from an Achilles problem.

Meanwhile, Stourport boss Rod Brown put out a strong team, with ex-Harriers men Michael Briscoe and Paul Hurrell starting.

But it was the away side who dominated the first half, with Green looking very lively on the right.

Briscoe was called into action in the eighth minute, sticking out a boot to divert Michael Gash's boot.

Nathan Blissett hooked an effort over the bar but he fired Harriers ahead in the 29th minute when he arrowed a 12-yard shot into the back of the net.

The away side continued and press and Stourport keeper Brenden Bunn denied Green and Gash.

But Gash doubled Kidderminster's lead two minutes into the second half, controlling Ahmed Obeng's pass with a touch and firing home on the edge of the box.

Whild made one change at half-time and replaced Hodgkiss with Stevenage youth team player Dan Udoh.

Harriers made it 3-0 in the 70th minute when trialists Dan Udoh and Tristan Dunkley set up Reece Hales for a simple finish.

Obeng could have added a fourth in the 80th minute.

The former Rushall man shows great control to take down a long ball from Josh Gowling but with Kidderminster players lining up for him, he shot into the side netting.

But the lively wideman turned provided in the 88th minute when Byrne tapped home his accurate drive.

Gowling nearly added a fifth but his rising effort flew over the bar.
