A RAMPANT Samurai junior squad took six gold medals at their Green and Under Championships, winning three silvers and 13 bronzes.

In the boys’ lower grades, Sam Norton-Brunet reached the semi-finals of the lightest weight group and bounced back from defeat to secure bronze.

There was also bronze for Daniel Hickinbottom, while in the next weight category up, Toby Grosvenor took gold.

Cameron Hobby added another bronze in the next weight up with a solid performance.

Making his tournament debut, Martin Allen Carillo bounced back from a semi-final loss to win bronze.

There was a silver for Callum Spencer, who reached the final but had to settle for silver.

Spencer Benton’s hard work was rewarded with a bronze, while Jack Walker, a Worcester player who also trains at Samurai, was unlucky to end up with silver.

Luke Talbot added another bronze in the last of the boys’ lower grades sections.

In the boys’ higher grades, James Hemer scooped gold, while brother Matt took bronze.

Bonnie Deeming-Lane defeated big sister Bonnie, who went onto take bronze, in the semi-final of the girls’ lower grades lightest weight group but had to settle after defeat in the final.

There were also golds for Sophie Deeming-Lane and Olivia Turner.

Sian Bobrowska defeated cub mate Leah Grosvenor in the last four of their weight section and went onto win gold. Grosvenor bounced back with a bronze. Toni Poulson wrapped up a fine effort with another gold.
