JUSTIN Walters consolidated his position in Wyre Forest’s Midweek Championship with another strong performance.

With no local races scheduled on last weekend’s time trial calendar ,Wyre Forest CRC riders who were not on holiday had only one race in which to flex their muscles.

Walters strengthened his lead in the scratch and handicap categories with another victory, but Jon Howard’s second place finish keeps him at the top of the veterans.

With only two races left in the Championship, podium positions have still to be decided with the handicap category providing the closest racing with just eight points covering the top three places.

Riding through torrential rain, Ken Bradbury stayed close to the leading group in his age section in the veterans national road race championship at the weekend, but lost contact in the closing stages eventually finishing in a creditable 15th place.
