KIDDERMINSTER Hockey Club were unable to hold up the title charge of Warwick and were beaten 5-0 in their away game with the West Midlands Premier Division pacemakers.

The success maintained Warwick's 100 per cent league record from 13 straight wins while Kidderminster remain fourth from bottom.

Kidderminster 4ths were short of players in their Fathoms game against visiting Walsall but found some new stars as they fielded four members of Kidderminster ladies team.

The result was a 2-2 draw and the visitors were lucky to share the honours.

Kay Macdonald opened the scoring for Kidderminster with a well-taken strike from the top of the circle with her back to goal.

And Amy Grove turned in a sparkling, energetic performance at centre forward and although she was unlucky not to get her name on the scoresheet, she was undoubtedly "Man of the Match."

Chaddesley chalked up only their third win of the season when they pipped fellow strugglers Standard 2-1 in West Midlands Division Two.

The success ended a run of seven straight defeats for the villagers and lifted them level on points with their opponents.

They made the breakthrough when a simple stop and straight strike from a short corner routine enabled Tom Boden to give them the lead.

They went 2-0 ahead when Jay Da Costa, returning from a self-imposed absence of 18 months, swept the ball home from 10 yards following good work by Tim Mack, Jack Williams and Nick Hemmings.

The villagers had to defend bravely in the second half and Standard's goal three minutes from time came too late to deny them victory.

Stourport Ladies 1st will be looking forward to the resumption of the Midland B campaign this weekend after warming up with an 8-0 home win over Telford & Wrekin.

They started strongly and Melissa Kennedy tapped in the opening goal before Emily Green, returning to 1st team action after an extended Christmas break, scored twice in five minutes.

After half-time Stourport maintained the pressure but failed to add to their tally until a late burst of goals.

The last 11 minutes saw the home side add five, including a fine individual effort, which wrapped up a hat-trick for Kennedy, and two goals from short corners, for Holly Lashford and Fran Moss, and a strike from Sarah Cavendish.

The restart of the league sees Stourport travelling to Tamworth for a 12.30pm hit back on Saturday.

The expected squad is Isobel Rosie, Harriet Burns, Fran Moss, Holly Lashford, Sophie Harries, Melissa Kennedy, Kerry Walker, Vicky Whitehouse, Katie Knott, Sarah Cavendish, Georgie Burns, Louise Wall, and Kate Miller.

The 2nds continued their winning ways in the Worcestershire First Division when they came back from two goals down to beat their hosts Droitwich 4-2.

Stourport started well but two goals in six minutes midway through the half put them on the back foot.

They got a lifeline when some clever skill from Louise Bagnall won a short corner, for which the first shot was saved, but, the ball came out to Hannah Corcoran who slotted the ball home.

Then a Stourport run down the wing, resulted in a cross which was met by Bagnall on the penalty spot and she slipped the ball under the keeper's legs, to level the scores before half time.

They went ahead after the interval when another wing move ended with Fran Baron scoring comfortably after finding herself all on her own in the D.

Five minutes from the end Nicky Beasley drilled in the fourth goal at the back post.

The 3rds lost 2-1 at Shrewsbury, Rosie Connolly scoring the goal.

Kate Bailey claimed five goals as the 4ths went on a spree to hammer visiting Bromsgrove 4ths 13-0.

There were hat-tricks for Jenni Peniket and Alison Baron, while the other two goals came from Alex Totney.
