CAPTAIN Jonathan Wright has demanded a mid-table finish in the Birmingham and District League Premier after they ended their relegation worries with an eight-wicket win over Brockhampton on Saturday.

KVCC are fourth from bottom but victories at Dorridge this weekend and Himley on September 13 would give them a chance of an unlikely mid-table finish.

That would put the gloss on a season where the Chester Road outfit had to recover from a poor first half of the season.

Wright said: “We came very close to relegation this season so it was a relief that we stayed in the division.

“If you look at what has happened to Himley it’s a warning to us all.

“I want us to end the season by showing some pride, passion and giving everything for the club in the final two matches.

“It’s hard to put a finger on why we’ve been so inconsistent, we were poor in the first half and a lot better in the second.

“But we are like a lot of teams, apart from West Brom and Berkswell nobody else has been consistent.”

Against Brockhampton, KVCC’s bowlers stepped up and did the business.

Gareth Williams returned to action and took 5-36, while Michael Hill (2-27), Connor Smith, Matt Pardoe and Richard Kimberlin all took one wicket each as Kidderminster dismissed their rivals for 133.

After losing Pardoe early on, Hill (68 no) and Kimberlin produced 127 runs inside 29 overs.

After Kimberlin’s dismissal, Neil Pinner joined Hill as they guided KVCC to 135-2.

Meanwhile, the Seconds got the better of Streetly by eight wickets.

James Kinder took 3-28, Mark Mansell 2-23, Henry Wright 2-38 and Steve Yarsley 1-29 as Streetly, bottom of the league, were bowled out in the 42nd over. Henry Wright (75) and skipper Mark Mansell then led them to victory.
