HARRIERS boss Gary Whild praised his strikers after Saturday's 2-1 win over Gateshead.

Craig Reid ended his agonising wait to open his league account for the Reds just seven seconds into the second half, before Nathan Blissett doubled their lead minutes later.

While Jon Shaw pulled one back for the away side, another strong defensive display blunted their attack as Kidderminster stretched their unbeaten start to the Vanarama Conference to seven games.

The Reds are also three points behind leaders Halifax.

Whild said: "I think the strikers have been superb but you do want them to score.

"If Craig is being honest that goal crept into the net but we've had three goalkeepers who were man of the match against us this season.

"Blissett came out in the second half and woke up.

"He provided a great header for the first goal and then got across his marker along his near post to score.

"That is what is what he is capable of doing, it just a matter of getting it out of him."

Gateshead had dominated the first half bit for all their slick passing they did not test keeper Danny Lewis.

Whild added: "In the first half we probably changed our style to suit Gateshead.

"We changed that in the second half and I thought we looked strong.

"Gateshead were going to be a strong team, but we showed them too  much respect in the first half.

"I reminded the players of what we are good at and they responded."
