MEMBERS of the Wyre Forest Company of Archers enjoyed a successful weekend at the Stourbridge Company of Archers’ promoted Sheriff’s Western tournament.

The club saw a host of their members record high places and they also produced a number of impressive displays.

Shooting four dozen arrows at 60 yards and 50 yards, Martin Preece placed third in the Gents Recurve event with a total of 756 points which included 96 hits and 50 golds.

Close behind in fifth place came Dave Brazier with 750 points including 96 hits and 52 golds.

In 22nd and 23rd places respectively came Daniel and Jason Finn each scoring 586 with 94 and 92 hits.

In the Gents Compound category, Scott Potter claimed runners-up spot with 858 points including 93 golds from 96 hits.

Also in second place was Lindsey Brazier in the Ladies Compound with 842 points from 96 hits and 85 golds.

Shooting a Short Junior Western of four dozen arrows at 30 yards and 20 yards 11 years old Freya Palmer finished runner-up in the Junior Girls Recurve event with a total score of 798 including 72 golds from 96 hits.

Another 11 year old, Lauren Turner, placed fourth with a score of 719 from 95 hits while Heike Palmer, 9, was fifth with 481 points from 91 hits.

In the Gloucestershire Archery Society Open clout tournament Karen McKay finished first in the Ladies Recurve one way double clout event with a score of 205 from 68 hits and three clouts.

Andrew McKay finished fourth in the Gents Barebow with 23 hits and 47 points while Jasmine Simpson won the Junior Girls with 53 hits and 136 points.
