Woking 2, Harriers 3

A STUNNING first half display saw Harriers get back on track and inflict Woking's first home loss of the season in the Vanarama Conference.

Three goals in eight minutes from Reece Styche, Michael Gash and Kyle Storer had handed the away side a 3-0 half-time lead.

But Woking responded well after the break and efforts from Scott Rendell and Jack Marriott ensured a classic non-league clash.

But Kidderminster keeper Danny Lewis made sure of the points with a superb late double save.

Manager Gary Whild made one change from their loss to Grimsby, drafting in Aman Verma in midfield, with Jamie Grimes absent with a foot injury.

Woking handed a start to gifted young forward Marriott, who joined the Cards for a third loan spell from Ipswich.

The hosts started brightly and swarmed around the away side. They created a chance 30 seconds into the game when Rendell met Marriott's low ball but Danny Lewis saved well.

The Surrey side were on top and they squandered a good chance to open the scoring in the 12th minute when Rendell was a fraction too late to meet Marriott's fizzing low ball.

But Kidderminster Harriers were working themselves into the game and three goals in eight minutes stunned Woking.  First, Styche bagged his second goal for the club in the 21st minute, slamming home a shot the far pot after Gash had flicked on Kevin Nicholson's long throw-in.

The ploy nearly worked again moments later, but Marvin Johnson's point blank volley was denied by Worner's superb reaction save.

But Harriers made it 2-0 in the 26th minute when Storer's low free-kick outfoxed the home defence and Gash hammered home.

Storer, who also picked up a harsh booking, made it 3-0 in the 29th when his effort took a deflection off Mike Cestnor and caught out Worner.

The away team could have added more goals. Winger Johnson produced several dazzling runs and was a fraction offside in the 35th minute.

It needed a desperate block by Keiran Murtagh three minutes later to end another dazzling run by Harriers'  winger.

Woking piled on the pressure near the end often half but they failed to test Lewis.

But the hosts made a perfect start to the second half.

John Goddard had seen an effort roll just wide but Rendell pulled one back in the 48th minute.

The striker rose highest at the far post and thumped home a header for a Chris Arthur cross.

Rendell was offside in the 50th minute as he rolled an effort across the face of goal.

Harriers settled and looked comfortable in defence and began to force Woking back.

They remained dangerous going forward and Gash had an effort ruled out for offside in the 55th minute.  The Kiddy forward was denied by the woodwork on the hour mark when his header from a corner clipped the bar.

Whild made his first substitution in the 65th minute, taking off Styche for fellow striker Craig Reid.

The hosts had an effort chalked off when Rendell uses his hand, instead of his head, to put the ball in the back of the net from a Josh Payne free-kick.

The speedy Marriott earned his side a free-kick in the 73rd minute but Payne's free-kick flew over the bar.

Cards manager Gary Hill then made a triple change in the 83rd minute as Adam Newton, Giuseppe Sole and Theo Lewis all came on.

Newton made an immediate impact in the 87th minute with a cross that allowed an unmarked Marriott to head home and ensure a tense end to the game.

Harriers had to survive six minutes of time added on.

Lewis produced a fine save in the 93rd minute in a huge goal mouth scramble. The ball ricocheted off Marriott from two yards out but Harriers' reliable keeper made a block on the line.

The custodian then got a hand to Cestnor's goal bound header as Kidderminster held on for three points.
