BEWDLEY Town suffered what manager Phil Mullen called a “double whammy” after two defeats this week.
The Ribbesford Meadow side had produced a spirited second half to battle back from 2-0 down at Shawbury in the West Midlands Premier to drew 3-3 before conceding a late goal.
Another late strike saw Town lose 1-0 to Midlands Premier outfit Alvechurch on Tuesday night in the Worcestershire Senior Urn.
Mullen said: “The defeats were a double whammy for us.
“We played well in the second half against Shawbury but let in a late goal, while Alvechurch probably deserved their winner.
“At the start of the season we couldn’t score, now that’s not a problem but we’re letting in goals.
“It’s frustrating but I do think we’re in a false position. The performances have been good but we’ve not been able to field a settled side all season because of players’ work.
“But Paul Davies and I are still really enjoying the job.”
Richard Costello and Will Woodward are both doubts for Saturday’s league clash at home to Gornal Athletic (3pm ko).
