Harriers 1, Wrexham 1

AMAN Verma bagged a superb strike but Harriers had to settle for a draw against Wrexham on Tuesday night.

The midfielder bagged a contender for goal of the season with a 30-yard effort in the second minute.

Gary Whild's side created a host of chances before Connor Jennings bagged a spectacular leveller in the second half.

But it was another strong display by the cash-strapped Aggborough outfit, who are unbeaten in three games and are just two points off the play-off spots in the Vanarama Conference.

Harriers were unchanged from the side which won so well in Grimsby.

That meant a first home start for rookie striker Reece Hales, who produced other industrious display.

But Kidderminster made another lightening fast start to take the lead.

At Grimsby, they had opened the scoring after 66 seconds, this time Verma's superb blockbuster arrowed into the top right corner 96s after the kick-off.

Wrexham tried to respond with a spell of pressure but the home defence were well-drilled to keep out the away side.

But the hosts nearly doubled their lead in the 15th minute. Keeper Jon Flatt dived on the line to deny to deny Verma, Matt Robinson crossed from the right but Hales glanced a header wide from six yards out.

Wrex's keeper kept his side in the game in the 39th minute, getting down swiftly to divert Reid's left-footed shot a fraction wide.

For all their possession, Wrexham created little and had their best chance in the 45th minute but Louis Moult, who had had his suspension from Altrincham lifted by Welsh FA, drove an effort straight at keeper Danny Lewis.

Wrexham started the second half well and Wes York saw an effort blocked as Harriers weathered two consecutive corners.

For all the energy of the match, there had been little in terms of goalmouth incident until Jennings levelled for Wrexham in spectacular fashion.

The wideman chased a hopeful ball doesn't be right and fired a thumping effort from an improbable angle to get the better of Lewis.

Harriers' keeper then had to rush out to clear a through ball as the pacey Jennings raced past Jamie Grimes towards the box.

But the hosts were denied a second by the woodwork in the 84th minute when on-loan Luton man Robinson's low effort struck the base of the post.

A mix-up between Grimes and Lewis allowed York to deliver a dangerous ball across Kidderminster's box but it luckily evaded substitute Nick Rushton in the 87h minute.

Marvin Johnson then stung Flatt's palms with a thundering left-footed effort.

In the end, neither side could be separated as an entertaining game ended honours even.
