KEEPER Brendan Bunn was the hero as Stourport Swifts edged out Bromsgrove Sporting 7-6 on penalties to book their place in the Worcestershire Senior Urn semi-finals on Tuesday night.

The shot-stopper scored the match-deciding spot-kick and made two impressive saves as the Walshes Meadow side avenged their FA Vase defeat to the Rouslers.

Swifts take on one of Alvechurch, Highgate or Malvern at the penultimate stage.

It was a fittingly dramatic finish to a game where the game swayed in both team's favour.

Stourport were the better team in the first half and goals for Jamie Willetts and Luke Morris handed them a deserved lead.

But they were left to rue a slew of missed chances as Sporting roared back and levelled up the scores to force a shoot out after the final whistle.

While Karl Fellows and Michael Briscoe missed the target, Jon Griffin, Ashley Parsons-Smith, Morris, Dean Waldron, Paul Hurrell, Ben Maund all scored and Bunn put away Swifts' ninth penalty.

He had already made two fine saves as Sporting's must go in penalty hit the woodwork.

Manager Rod Brown said: "Brendan had a really good game and he showed very cool nerves to score.

"All the younger guys did well with their penalties and I was surprised to see two of our more experienced players miss the target.

"But we got though. We were brilliant in the first half but were a different side in the second half and Sporting also hit the bar at 2-2."

Stourport are now unbeaten in eight games after drawing 1-1 at Boldmere St Michaels on Saturday in the Midlands Premier.

Griffin had headed them into the lead but Kieran Clarke levelled it up for ten men Boldmere, who had seen Keenan Meakin-Richards pick up two yellow cards.

Brown has snapped up midfielder Robbie Bunn, 17, from Littleton, who is the younger brother of Swifts' shot-stopper.

He is set to make debut in Saturday's home clash against Alvechurch (3pm ko). They then entertain Quorn on Tuesday (7.45pm ko).
