ANGRY Harriers’ fans vented their frustration after their FA Trophy First Round clash was controversially postponed at 1.45pm on Saturday.
The knockout clash was called off just over an hour before kick-off, disappointing dozens of supporters who had made the 150 mile trip to West Yorkshire.
A local official had inspected the pitch at 8am and decided that the game was on, despite the fact that a section of the surface was frozen.
However, with temperatures remaining chilly, upon arrival the match officials decided to assess the pitch again at 2pm in an effort to get the game on.
However, it was clear there were concerns about the surface and the running track at the Horsfall Stadium.
The cancellation was a setback for Harriers who have not played since Tuesday, December 2. Kidderminster had a free weekend on December 6 because of Aldershot’s involvement in the FA Cup.
On Twitter, AdsMatthews posted: “Just returned from the Bradford shambles. Was far too late to call off the game. Managed to take in Doncaster v Gillingham on the way back!”
@Birdy_Boi: “Got a 3 miles away then turned straight back round nice 5 hours in the car for nout.”
@MrHarryUrz: “Lack of empathy from their staff. Icy patch on entrance to ground not gritted. Not very impressed!”
The game has been rescheduled at Bradford Park Avenue’s home for Monday (7.45pm ko) but it will depend on the weather.
