Stourport Swifts 1, Long Eaton United 1

A second half John Griffin penalty earned Stourport a share of the spoils at home to league leaders Long Eaton.

And it was no more than Swifts deserved particularly after creating the better chances before half-time.

The first of these fell to Griffin midway through the first half when he got on the end of a delightful Ben Maund cross only to direct his header over the target.

Long Eaton had already been forced into an early change after an injury to defender Gerome Palmer but still managed to take the lead on 31 minutes when TJ Nightingale turned the ball home following good work out on the left wing.

Swifts almost hit back within three minutes when defender Kevin Spencer put a volley just the wrong side of the post as the visitors failed to clear a set-piece.

With the Walshes Meadow pitch cutting up after the break, chances were few and far between.

But in the 73rd minute, Ashley Parsons-Smith was tripped inside the box and Griffin stepped up to fire in the equaliser.

Swifts: Kier 7, Hurrell 8, Spencer 7, BRISCOE 9, Willets 8, Walker 7, Parsons-Smith 7, Hyde 7, Corbett 6 (Curtis 69, 6), Griffin 6 (Morris 79), Maund 7 (Scheppell 65, 5).
