MEMBERS from Bewdley TAGB won 20 medals at the Welsh Closed Championships at the University of South Wales.

Paris Orme led the way for the club, winning four trophies in four divisions.

She earned silver in individual patterns, individual sparring, and synchronised patterns and gold in team sparring alongside Darcey Small and Rosie Ashmore.

Ashmore also had an outstanding day, beating Orme to take the gold medal in patterns, but losing out to her in individual sparring.

Orme and Ashmore joined forces in the synchronised patterns for their silver and in the team category to take another gold.

Blaiz Orme was in good form as he stormed through the rounds to the final and earned a silver medal.

There was an outstanding performance from Dan Oldman, who not only achieved medals in individual and team sparring, but beat a World Champion in the destruction division to take the gold medal.

Police officer Laura Whittall chose to fight in the heavyweight division, despite weighing in at the lower end of the middleweight division and won gold.

Husband and wife team Arti Shar and Alex Sobainski competed together in the synchronised patterns division and took the gold medal.

Shar also took home two silver medals from his patterns and sparring divisions.

The couple’s elder daughter Anushka won silver in her sparring division, and their younger daughter Rhianna also produced a strong performance.

Nick Jackson and Katie Billingham scooped bronzes.
