KIDDERMINSTER Victoria completed their preparations for Birmingham League Premier with a confidence-boosting win over Brockhampton.

The Chester Road side booked their place in the next round of the Graham Williamson Plate with a 93-run win over the Herefordshire side at home, who they coincidentally start their league campaign at on Saturday (noon start).

In the 40-over match, an impressive 124 stand between Craig Wood, who smashed 101not out, and Connor Smith (48 not out), inspired a fine win for KVCC.

Captain Matt Pardoe also waded in with 46 runs as the hosts made 277-6.

The skipper then took 3-22 as the away side were kept to 184-6.

An understrength Kidderminster side lost to Moseley in the ECB T20 competition on Sunday. After Moseley had made 193-3, only Andy Kimberlin made an imp-act with the bat for KVCC as they were bowled out for 91 in 16 overs.

Kimberlin is set to step in for the absent Ryan Derrick for Saturday's league clash and Kidderminster then go to Bromyard on Sunday for the first regional round of the National Knockout Cup.

Wood said: "Hopefully our win over Brockhampton will stand us in good stead for the league opener. With the first five games win or lose, a good start to the season can really put you in a very good position."
