ATHLETICS: Kidderminster and Stourport AC (KSAC) held their annual Open competition last Sunday with hundreds of athletes from across the Midlands defying the gale force winds to compete in a wide range of events.
The Open has become a popular event on the annual athletics calendar with many athletes using it to kick off their season.
The day began with a tremendous hammer competition with entrants from KSAC, Wolverhampton and Bilston AC plus two guest throwers who had travelled from Ireland to take part.
Brendan O’Donnell is the Irish U-17s champion and Jade Williams the Irish number one 1 U-15s thrower. The competition saw a number of throws well over in excess of 50 metres.
It was a great day for the home athletes taking part with Francis Millburn, Katie Lambert, Jess Surridge and Jack Lambert all achieving new personal bests.
Katie Lambert’s throw of 59.04m meters and 4 cm was only 41 cm short of the current national record.
