KIDDERMINSTER'S Taylor Fish excellent run in the English Association of Snooker and Billiards under-14s champions came to an end after he lost to Birmingham rival Hamim Hussain.

Hussain, 14, from Small Heath followed up his 2014 success in Leeds with a 5-2 victory over Taylor Fish in this season’s final at Longton Snooker Club, Stoke.

After his opponent had won the first two frames, Fish had fought back well to win the next two and go into the interval on level terms.

But Hussain responded well to the challenge to win the next three and take the championship.

Fish trains at Pockets Snooker Club, who also sponsor him, and owner Alan Turner said: "Despite the score it was a very closegame.

"Hamim has more experience of playing in a final and his father has also spent a lot of money to get him the best coaching and equipment.

"But I believe if Taylor keeps applying himself and working hard he could be a better player than Hamim.

Fish will be in action at Pockets on June 21 for the final under-17s regional round.

He is also going to the European Championships in Malta in January.
