HARRIERS boss Gary Whild hailed goal-scorers Gurjit Singh and Reece Styche after yesterday’s 2-2 draw at Tranmere Rovers.

Super-sub Singh made it three goals for the season when he pounced in the 84th minute to hand Kidderminster a lifeline.

Styche, making his first start since his sending off against Wrexham, bagged a 91st minute leveller.

“I thought Gurjit did fantastically well,” said the manager.

“He chased a lost cause, showed some skill and it was good composure for the goal. He’s started one game and scored three goals and you can’t argue with that.

“The one thing that you can’t fault with Reece is his work ethic.

“Sometime he tries too hard but he sees himself as one of the more experienced players. He’s doing what he can to help the rest of the players and sometimes you’ve got to focus on your own game.

“He was very unfortunate to be booked but he kept going and showed good composure to score a good goal.”

The draw means Harriers have three points after a very difficult opening set of fixtures, which has seen the Reds playing promotion hopefuls Wrexham, Gateshead, Forest Green and Tranmere Rovers.

But despite his side being bottom of the Vanarama National League at this early stage, Whild is upbeat about team’s ability to start winning games.

He said: “The second goal was straight from a goal-kick. Unfortunately we are a young set of lads who are getting punished in those situations, that’s the reality of this league.

“To come to Tranmere Rovers and get a draw, we’ve got to take a lot of confidence.

“At the minute it has panned out how we thought it was going to, it’s going to be tough. If we are going to get results, we need to be at the same level as we were today."
