SAM Osborne led the way for Wyre Forest in the second round of the National Arena League round two at Pingles Leisure Centre.

Team spirit was the name of the game, as the club's swimmers fought hard to secure points.

Osborne was Wyre Forest's highest finisher on the night, coming second in the men's open age group section in the 4x2 individual medley, under-15s 100 metres butterfly and 100m freestyle.

John McMahon finished runners-up in the men’s open age group 100m butterfly, while Eddie Cox came second in the 10 to 11yr old 50m breaststroke.

Jack Rowley also grabbed second in the men's open age group 100m backstroke.

There was a third spot for Jasmin Yates in the10 to 11 year-old 50m butterfly.

In the U13s 100m backstroke, Imogen Cook grabbed third place, while Abbie Rowley recorded the same positions in the U15s 100m butterfly and 100m freestyle races.

In the relays, the quartet of Eddie Cox, James Rushton, Jeremy Summers and Ben Goddard finished third in the nine to 11 years-old 4x2 medley.

Rowley, Matthew Newey, Osborne, Jack O’Connell, McMahon and Harvey Thomson teamed-up to take third spot in the 6x2 freestyle relay.

The men’s open age group 4x2 medley relay team of Rowley, Matthew Newey, McMahon and Harvey Thompson finished third, with the unusual occurrence of all four swimmers recording new personal best times in their respective strokes.

In total swimmers set a total of 38 new personal best times as newly-promoted Wyre Forest finished in fifth with 134 points.
