STOURPORT Swifts boss Mark Phillips cursed his side's bad luck this week after they crashed 2-1 against Coventry Sphinx in the Midland Football League, writes Nick Pullen.

Phillips insisted: "The result was no reflection on the game. We were much the better side in the first, yet we found ourselves 2-0 down at the break.

"Two mistakes cost us. It's been the story of our season so far.

"To be fair, Sphinx played a great deal better at the start of the second half before we took control of the game again, but we could only pull one goal back through Reece Wager.

"It was disappointing to say the least. We should have taken something from the game, if not all the points."

Swifts were boosted by the return of defender Jamie Hyde and leading marksman Ben Maund following injury, but were missing Joe Robinson who was serving a one match ban.

Swifts find themselves on the sidelines this weekend as scheduled opponents Quorn are involved in the FA Vase.

But Swifts will be back in action next Tuesday night when they entertain local rivals Bewdley Town in the Worcestershire Senior Urn.

Phillips hopes to have Turkish midfield player Umit Eminoglu on board by next week providing his international clearence has come through.

Initially on Aston Villa's books, Eminoglu has since featured for both Bromsgrove Sporting and Redditch United in addition to playing in Turkey.
