EIGHT mixed martial arts fighters from Kidderminster’s Russell Perks Martial Arts Academy (RPMAA) tasted success at the MMA Battle Arena event in Birmingham.

The event hosted an international fight card, with warriors from Norway, France and Poland in action.

David Khalsa fought for the Battle Arena Lightweight title against Dan Rees.

Up against a seasoned opponent, Khalsa came out and produced a controlled display, with a knockout victory after 97 seconds.

In one of the night’s other impressive wins, Stefan Williams, who had been training with RPMAA for just less than 12 months, produced a dominant display.

He won round one and then finished his opponent off by technical knockout after a sustained barrage of blows.

Second win of the night was from Mathieu James, who saw off Ben Stanley is a tight three-round battle.

James controlled the top position and won the fight by unanimous decision.

Last up from the RPMAA fight camp was Macaulay White, who was fighting for a title against Rob Masters, a decorated fighter.

After a fierce battle, White was caught with an arm in the second round, handing Masters the win.

Meanwhile, Oliver Rowles, Luke Woolfdendale, Bradley Owen and Martin Saunders all did themselves proud.

Head Coach Russell Perks said: “The fight team have trained hard for this event, with many sparring classes each week, and it has been a pleasure to train them all.

“We have some big things planned for 2016, including a new academy.”
