AMAZING FEET runner Simon Gregg set a new personal best time when tackling the Brathay Windermere Marathon in Cumbria on Sunday.

In glorious weather he sliced 34 minutes off his previous record to finished 196th out of 912 competitors in a time of 3hrs 40mins 51secs.

Gregg was followed by Shaw Pye in 197th, while Richard Baker made a successful return to marathon running after a seven year break at Windermere to finish 491st in 4-13-28.

Rachel Cooper produced a strong debut for her club by recording a time of 4hrs 47mins 47secs at the White Peak marathon in Derbyshire, despite being hampered by strong wind, to finish 164th out of 182 finishers.

Steven Hawkes finished the Sheffield Half Marathon in 1-27-57, while Helen Parrish recorded a personal best in the same event with a time of 1-39-56.

Anita Jones came seventh and was the second lady to finish in the first Run For Rescue 6.5 mile race in Wyre Forest, in a time of 50.52.

She was closely followed by Tracey Snow, who came 12th overall and was the fifth lady to finish in 54-01.

Ellie Hooper finished 18th overall and was the sixth woman to complete the course in 61-11, followed by Suzanne Dunn (63-36), who came seventh in the women's category.

Craig Lewis was the first senior man home in the new Thank Clent It's Friday race series, which kicked off with a 4.3 mile hill race from Nimmings Wood car park, finishing fifth overall in 32-15.

Rachel Ward was the second women to finish and first in the F45 age group in a time of 35-53, coming 16th overall.

Gerry Sanders (39min), who came 32nd and third in the M45, Jean Maffei (44-41) came 55th overall and second in the F40, and Sarah Lewis(44.56), who finished 57th and came third in F35, also performed strongly.

In the Telford series, Lindsay Pulley finished second in the M65 age group once again at the Phoenix Flyer 5km run, in a time of 26-21, coming 197th of the 240 finishers. Justin Conner also took part, finishing 216th in 28mins.

Rachel Ward competed in the Tewkesbury triathlon on Sunday, finishing as third lady and first super-veteran. Ward completed the 400 metre swim, 24km bike ride and 5km run in a total time of 1-11-26.
