Harriers have completed a deal to sign highly-rated striker Evan Garnett from Belper Town.

The 21-year-old is currently one of the brightest prospects in the Evo-stik Southern division, with 19 goals to his name so far in all competitions this campaign.

Evan began his career with Burton Albion, where he progressed through the ranks with some impressive goal-scoring exploits, before earning a professional deal.

Injury curtailed his time with the Brewers and the youngster was forced to make a new start for himself - something he managed with style, impressing at the likes of Ilkeston and Hucknall before linking up with Belper for a second spell this term.

Evan has signed a contract at Aggborough that keeps him with the club until the end of the season.

“Leaving Burton was hard to take but, long term, it has helped me – I’ve gone from having nothing, to signing here,” reflected the new arrival.

“It’s put me in good stead because I know what it’s like to have nothing, and I am just really looking forward to working hard and doing well for the team.

“The standard is a really good level and I can’t believe where we are in the league.

“It’s a big jump from where I have been playing but I feel like I’ve done well in training and have been sharp.

“Everyone has made me feel welcome and I just can’t wait to get started.”

Garnett takes his place in the Harriers squad for Saturday’s trip to Aldershot (3pm).
