COLIN Gordon said he was 'proud' of Kidderminster Harriers' passing display despite being edged out 1-0 by Aldershot to suffer an eighth straight loss.

The caretaker boss and majority shareholder focused on an at times dominant performance in Hampshire.

Harriers controlled the first half, with the midfield trio of Luke Maxwell, Ousmane Fane and Ben Whitfield impressing.

But for all their ability with the ball, Kiddy had just two shots on target from Arthur Gnahoua and Elton Ngwatala, while Keith Lowe headed over the bar.

The defeat was a severe examination of Gordon's footballing vision of possession-based football in the Vanarama National League, a competition which can be fast and furious.

Harriers' good work was undone by Charlie Walker's 50th minute strike and despite Whitfield missing a good chance to level, they slipped to another damaging loss.

Gordon said: "We have passed Aldershot off the park, the players showed an unbelievable desire to get on the ball.

"There were some immense performances, I thought Ousmane Fane was unbelievable.

"Elton Ngwatala had a knock but he still wanted to get on the ball, Luke Maxwell looked like a proper player.

"We need a finished article up front. We went with Omari Patrick, who worked his socks off.

"We brought on Evan Garnett who looked like a player but we need to have the movement in behind defences when we dominate games.

"Our fans are going to be fed up of hearing it but I am so proud of the way we passed the ball."

Defeat left Harriers, who are bottom of the table, 16 points from safety and with a huge mountain to climb to escape relegation.

Fans were also frustrated by the defeat, as Harriers' lack of firepower came back to haunt them.

In the last eight games, they have scored just three goals.

"Jared Hodgkiss had a knock on his calf and we're desperate to keep him on the pitch," added Gordon.

"But he got done in midfield, which would not normally happen, and it is a kick in the you know whats.

"We had glorious chances to get something from the game.

"We have to go on performances, I know it's difficult because we've lost 1-0 but it wasn't a typical one goal defeat, it was a lesson in how to play the game.

"People say I am like Massimo Cellino at Leeds but I want us to play in a certain way.

"We can only go forward with a philosophy which everybody believes in.

"The first half was the Kiddy way, what we need is the final piece of the jigsaw."
