KIDDERMINSTER’S Sally Moon has been selected to compete at The Commonwealth Judo Championships 2016.

The event will be held in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, from Saturday until next Thursday and will include tournaments for cadets, juniors, seniors and the visually impaired.

England are intending to take a national squad to these championships and Moon has been selected because of her really hard work, and dedication.

The 21-year-old has been competing in judo since the age of eight.

She currently trains at Wolverhampton Judo Club under the watchful eye of coach Bill Kelly.

She is member of the Great Britain senior squad and is ranked number four in the senior British ranking lists and finished off last year at the top of the junior rankings.

The Commonwealth Judo Championships are the next important step in her senior international career.

She has been asked to contribute £400 towards the cost of travel to the event and is currently looking for sponsorship.
