A KIDDERMINSTER golfer's professional dream is becoming a reality after qualifying for a major set of tournaments.

Luke Towler triumphed in his quest to secure a place on the EuroPro Tour circuit.

The 25-year-old made the cut in the final qualifying school to ensure he will be competing in 14 events throughout the UK this season.

“I’m over the moon to have qualified for the Euro ProTour,” he said.

“Playing professional golf has always been a dream of mine and now it’s really happening. This is only the start of things, there is a long way to go but I have big targets moving forward.”

Towler, who plays out of Telford Golf & Country Club, has only been playing full-time golf since January and already he is reaping the rewards.

He had previously been juggling the roles of Telford Golf & Country Club’s PGA professional alongside practising and competing in tournaments.

But now, after securing sponsorship from JMS Retail Concepts, a Chorley-based business owned by his friend Scott Jackson, whom he met while playing on a ProAm, Towler now has the ability to train full time.

The EuroPro Tour schedule, which is shown on Sky Sports, kicks off in May at Frilford Heath Golf Club, Oxfordshire, before coming to an end in October at Desert Springs Resort, in Spain.

To qualify for the season-ending event in Spain, Towler must finish in the top 60 Order of Merit and he admits it won’t be easy.

“I’m looking forward to getting started in May, the events come thick and fast, especially over the summer,” he added.

“Obviously, the main aim is to not only finish in the top 60 to reach the season-ending finale in Spain, but to achieve qualification on to the next stage of professional golf, the European Challenge Tour.”

Aside from the EuroPro Tour, Towler is also competing in PGA Regional events of which he ranked second in 2015 and aims to use this route again to try and qualify for the BMW Championship at Wentworth in 2017.

Towler is also entering a number of different qualifying events with intentions of reaching The Open and The British British Par Three Championship.

He added: “There’s no point in getting ahead of myself. I just need to concentrate on my golf and make sure I can play to the best of my ability on each occasion.

“Reaching The Open is a dream, but for now, I’ve got to concentrate on the first EuroPro Tour event.”
