ANOTHER chilly afternoon saw Bewdley put in a good batting display to earn a draw at high-flying Worcester Nomads in Worcestershire County League Division One.

Chasing 250, Bewdley batted solidly with useful contributions from Adam Groves (41) and Connor Franklin (45).

For the second week running Charlie Eastoe was the mainstay, finishing on 71 not out.

Nobody else reached double figures.

At 152-4, Bewdley had a sniff of victory, but a middle order collapse followed, and in the end they were happy to play out for a draw, with Eastoe skilfully manipulating the strike.

Eastoe hit eight fours in a run-a-ball innings and looks to be an inspired acquisition.

Earlier, Bewdley’s bowling had not been as effective and Nomads were able to hurtle along at six an over for the loss of only three wickets, before an early declaration.

Nevertheless, there are encouraging signs, and Bewdley go to Burghill on Saturday hoping for warmer weather and an improved performance.
