BIRMINGHAM LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION - KIDDERMINSTR v BERKSWELL. 21/5/16

The rain came to Kidderminster’s rescue as the visitors would no doubt have reached the total required. A delayed start, and being asked to bat, saw Kidderminster somehow last 38 overs.

The 42 runs scored by Jonathan Wright gave a certain respectable appearance to the scorebook. Only three other batsmen, Craig Wood (17), Charlie Stainforth (18), and Chris Russell (14), supported by 22 extras, added up to KCC’s lowest league-score of the season.

Wright’s 42 runs were scored off 53 balls and included seven fours and one six. He was caught on the boundary just short of another six.Nick James had figures of 3-14 off five overs and Tom Milnes 3-20 off eight.

The rain became the winner with several delays. When Berkswell batted they lost their first wicket on 29 when keeper Tom Kimberlin caught Tom Lewis (8) bowled by Connor Smith.

In the fifth over with the score on 37-1, more rain came and play never resumed. Mark Best was unbeaten on 29, having struck seven 4s.

It is four leagues matches without a win for Kidderminster compared to last season’s start that saw them win the first six.

KCC have two away fixtures lined up with visits to Kenilworth and Knowle & Dorridge. The Williamson Trophy final was to be played at Walsall on Sunday May 29, but is now to be moved to another date.
