KEN Bradbury led the way for Wyre Forest at the promoted National Circuit Championships with a silver medal in his age group.

He just missed out on the gold medal in the final few metres of a sprint finish at the Stourport bike track.

John Smith finished in the bunch to secure ninth place in his age group in only his second circuit race while Dean Sibthorpe — with just six months of training after a 20-year layoff — placed 10th in his age group.

Earlier in the week there were great rides from the club’s veterans in the Ludlow CC-promoted 10-mile time trial on the Brimfield Bypass course.

Jon Howard recorded a time of 20 minutes and 56 seconds, just off his personal best, but good enough for second place overall and leading veteran.

Gary Jones finished with a personal best time of 22.42 for 15th place after coming off a night shift and getting just four hours’ sleep.

David Briggs also recorded a PB time with 23.49 for 24th place and together they secured the top team award.

A number of riders from other clubs ensured WFCRC riders stayed focused in the latest round of the midweek TT Championship held on the Ryelands Lane course, with Howard setting the fastest time and Andy Convery securing the overall runners-up spot place with Stuart Walker.

Midweek TT championship results: Jon Howard 21-34; Andy Convery 22-45; Stuart Walker 22-45; Lucy Walters 24-04; Paul Gibson 25-25; John Smith 25-44; Andy Cooper 25-52; Michael Boddice 27-03; Sam Cooper 27-29; James Harrison 28-21; Vicki Boddice 28-23.
