COLIN Gordon has said Kidderminster Harriers will only let midfielder Ousmane Fane leave if the deal is right for the club.

The chairman confirmed at last night's fans forum that the gifted French enforcer did play on trial for Oldham Athletic against Wigan on Tuesday night and impressed the Greater Manchester outfit.

Gordon confirmed he is in talks with Athletic's owner Simon Corney over a possible transfer.

Fane is contracted at Aggborough until the end of the 2016-17 season so Harriers can command a fee for the exciting prospect.

He said: "We had an agreement with Oldham that Ousmane would play as a trialist.

"Ousmane is a very determined young man and he has an unbelievable drive to succeed.

"Part of my agreement with him personally when he signed a deal in January was that if a chance came along we wouldn't stand in his way and he was determined he wanted to take this chance.

"'We gave him a chance to play for them on Tuesday night and he did particularly well."

He added: "I am talking to their chairman, if he Ousmane a desire to go and we can agree a deal that is suitable for our football club then he will go.

"Oldham historically don't spend money and so there is an element of getting blood out of a stone.

"If it's not right we won't do it. We've already chatted about what's next.

"The trials over, we either get to the stage when we agree a deal and he's Oldham's player or we don't and he's ours."

The Harriers chairman also apologised to supporters after the club had said Fane missed the friendly against Hereford with a toe injury.

He also stressed manager John Eustace would have the final say so on if a player leaves.

"It's a market of one and if I can use my connections to widen it out I will, but at the moment it's a market of one," said Gordon.

"It's down to the lad and the gaffer's set in concrete about this, if a player doesn't want to be here then they go."

Meanwhile, Jared Hodgkiss continues the road to recovery when he plays in tonight's frendly at Halesowen Town.

The experienced right-back has missed two weeks with a pre-existing ankle problem with Eustace wary of rushing him back to soon.

However, he is set to feature in tonight's game at The Grove.
