HOME is where heart is for Harriers defender Keith Lowe.

The popular centre back brought a smile to Kidderminster fans’ faces when he agreed to re-sign for the 2016-17 season, despite interest from Vanarama National teams.

Lowe admitted at the time it was a choice between his head and his heart but since putting pen to paper he’s loving life at Aggborough.

“I was so happy when I made the decision to sign for Harriers again,” said the former Wolverhampton Wanderers youngster.

“I love playing my football here and hopefully it will show in my performances this season.

“We know we’re going into one hell of a league and it’s going to be tough from game one but if we go about our business and do what we know we can do and hopefully we’ll get our rewards at the end.”

Lowe is one of a handful of senior players at the club who will have the task of guiding what is a very young squad as they look to find their feet in the National North after their relegation.

He said: “I enjoy being one of the senior players although it’s something I still need to work on. I do like to help out the younger lads and pass on my experience and if that helps it’s great, I want to be part of this team and have a strong campaign.”

If Harriers are to bounce back from their relegation last season Lowe’s partnership with the vastly experienced Wayne Thomas will be key.

Thomas made over 500 senior first place appearances for the likes of Southampton, Stoke and Burnley.

“Straight away I feel really comfortable playing alongside Wayne,” added Lowe.

“He’s a good talker and we help each other in the heart of the defence. I knew Wayne from when I was loaned out to Burnley a few years ago.

“It’s been a while but it’s nice to see a familiar face."
