WYRE Forest Company of Archers sisters Freya and Heike Palmer enjoyed a successful Junior Masters at the Lilleshall National Sports Centre.

The competition is for 100 UK junior archers who had achieved a master bowman qualification and it started with a ranking round which Freya topped and in which Heike finished fourth.

Freya came through the head-to-head section and secured gold after winning a sudden death shootout in the final. Heike progressed through her rounds to eventually secure fourth in her age group.

In the final champion of champions competition, Freya, 13, came up against older opponents but held her own to finish fourth.

There was more success for the club in the Worcestershire County and Open Championships.

There was a silver medal for Scott Potter with a score of 1192, including 96 golds, and a bronze for Bill Bell with a score of 1178 and 93 golds.

There were gold medals for Jason Finn in the Hereford Longbow with 307 and four golds, Martin Burbridge in the Hereford Recurve with 662 and 12 golds and Angela Burbridge in the ladies’ barebow with 534 and 16 golds.

In the open National Recurve competition Rob Millward shot a personal best score of 473 with 14 golds to secure a bronze medal and Daniel Finn received a first class medal with a score of 905 and 38 golds in the gents.

Freya Palmer took gold in the under-14s, Amy Hadley won under-12s gold and there was a fourth-place for Lindsey Brazier and runners-up spot for Penny Neaverson.
