BEWDLEY Town will be desperate to bounce back after suffering a heavy 7-1 FA Vase exit against top of the table Wolves Sporting Community.

Spokesman Steve Godfrey said: "Wolves Sporting were never 7-1 better than us. They were just more clinical in front of goal, although that said, they fully deserved to win."

There was little sign of the goal rush to come by half time after Bewdley marksman Lewis Pountney had cancelled out the opening goal from Sporting's prolific scorer Danny Westwood.

Bewdley's luck deserted them after the break as a Brad Lewis shot went in off the post before a Dimitri Dunkley shot was deflected past goalkeeper Darren Steadman.

Bewdley's claims for a penalty were turned down when Jason Wellings appeared to be upended. In contrast Sporting were awarded a spot kick after Richard Costello was penalised for a foul and Westwood duly converted to make it 4-1 on 65 minutes From that point, there was only one winner as Wolves Sporting pressed home the advantage with further goals from Dunkley and substitute Jonathan Letford while Westwood completed his hat-trick.

Meanwhile, Bewdley Town Reserves will be looking to add more experience into their line-up.

Godfrey claimed: "We've been using the side so far this season to play last year's Under-18's but it's now clear we need some older heads."

The first team travel to Bilston Town Community on Saturday while the reserves, who are currently bottom of West Midlands League Division Two, play hosts to Wolverhampton United.
