BEWDLEY manager Phil Mullen was pleased with the way his side emphatically returned to winning ways.

They bagged a 6-0 success over bottom side Gornal last Saturday to firmly put the previous weekend's defeat against Malvern out of their minds.

Mullen had called for a reaction from his players and got just that thanks to doubles for Lewis Pountney and Alex Lavery and strikes from Will Ward and Jason Wellings.

"It might have been against the team at the bottom but you can only beat what is in front of you," said the boss.

"They have got a new manager so you never know what change that may have. It was good to get back to winning ways and I think we are starting to settle down a bit now.

"Our results have been a little inconsistent but we have struggled with players being absent in the defensive areas.

"We are heading in the right direction and we should be looking to push into the top six now."

Bewdley will look to build on the Gornal victory when they go to AFC Bridgnorth this Saturday.
