STOURPORT Swifts have started the new year with back-to-back league and cup victories.
Swifts secured a much-needed three points when they bagged a 2-1 home win over Loughborough University last Saturday.
Alex Read struck for the the visitors but goals from Jim Hanson and Aaron Lloyd made sure the hosts came out on top.
The victory meant that Stourport moved above AFC Wulfrunians into 18th place and further away from the Midland Football League Premier Division dropzone.
Swifts then continued their fine start to 2017 as they secured a cup success at home to Pegasus Juniors on Tuesday night.
The clash in the Worcestershire Royal Infirmary Cup ended 2-2 before manager Mark Philips' men won 4-3 on penalties.
Rion Francis-Mills and Andrew Hudson netted for Swifts in 90 minutes.
They will now be hoping to claim successive league wins when they host 13th-placed Long Eaton United at Walshes Meadow this Saturday (3pm kick-off).
