Wyre Forest Phoenix 4, Arley Kings 0

Phoenix were without Chelsea Mudge (away) and Sadie Brown and Sophie Jones (injured) but did not waste any time opening their account.

After just eight minutes Laura Edwards flicked in from the near post from a corner provided by Gee Howells and seven minutes later she doubled her tally by heading the ball home after a long range shot from Chloe Whyley hit the cross bar.

Arley missed a chance when Mary Caulder sliced a shot wide but just before half time Phoenix made it three when Kat Bayliss got her first of the game after a lovely through ball from Jodie Boraston split the defence.

The second half started well for Arley as Heidi Mitchell came close to getting on the score sheet, only to see her shot rise over the bar.

This lifted Arley who kept pushing for the goal but great defending from Amy Rutland, Eilidh Shakespeare, Jodi Boraston and Nancy Sylvester thwarted their attempts.

Midfielder Chloe Whyley picked out Lisa Preece who tricked her defender and set up Batliss to smash it to the bottom left from 12yds to get her second of the game and secure three points.

The ladies have a week off before travelling to Worcester to take on the Vixens on March 5.
