BEWDLEY'S mid-season dip in form continued this weekend with a four wicket defeat at Burghill.

The talented batting order once again misfired, and their total of 217 seemed inadequate on the compact away ground.

Nick Wilkinson returned to form with an attractive 31, and Rob Combes looked ominous before his innings was cut short at 25, but the main contribution came from Connor Franklin, who held the innings together with a workmanlike 62.

Jack Mills provided some fireworks at the end with a brisk 40, but Burghill proceeded serenely towards their unchallenging target.

There was a brief moment of excitement for the visitors when Burghill lost three wickets in an over and found themselves at 162-6, but an unbroken partnership of 59 saw the hosts victorious with four overs to spare.

Mills (2-17) and Matt Woodcock (1-31) were the pick of the Bewdley bowlers as the Lower Park side slipped to 17 points behind Worcestershire County League Division One leaders Cookley.

Bewdley, who now have gone five games without a win, will be back in action on Saturday as they host Colwall (1pm start).
