STOURPORT Swifts had no answer to high flying Shepshed Dynamo’s goal power as they suffered a 6-0 home defeat last Saturday.

Shepshed, boasting three of the league’s top scorers from last season, enjoyed a five goal second half feast to leave Swifts gasping.

After a competitive first half in which Stourport were doing most of the defending, Shepshed had only a single goal from Michael Reeves’ header in off the post to show for their efforts, with Dominic Richards saving well from Liam Read and Shay Brennan. Swifts best effort came from Drew Canavan’s free kick which shaved the crossbar.

In the second half, Brennan, who notched 42 goals last season, took charge with two in three minutes, twice evading the attention of the Swifts defence to coolly round Richards to score.

Swifts lost defensive lynchpin Matt Fulloway through injury after 65 minutes, and the visitors took full advantage when first a Josh Hill corner was headed home by skipper Jake Betts, then ten minutes later sub Luke Richards headed in at the far post.

With five minutes to go, Liam Hurst drove low past Richards from 25 yards to complete a sorry afternoon for the Swifts.

They are due to go to Shawbury United tonight before a trip to South Normanton Athletic this Saturday.
