HAT-TRICK hero Matt Kirby helped fire Bewdley Town to victory over Shifnal to lift them to third in the West Midlands Premier League table.

Town won 5-2 last Saturday as Sam Woodhouse and Luke Morris also found the back of the net.

The success sets them up perfectly for this Saturday's clash with second-placed Tividale at Ribbesford Meadow (3pm kick-off).

Manager Phil Mullen said: "Shifnal started well and went ahead in the game so we had to dig in a come from behind before running out comfortable winners.

"It certainly wasn't our most polished performance but it's another good three points and we certainly can't complain about where we are in the league at the moment.

"We haven't been able to field the same side from one week to the next this season either, which is a credit to the squad."

He also prised the impact of striker Kirby, adding: "He's a young lad that has cemented his place in the team. He showed good finishing against Shifnal but also has a good all-round game too."

Attention now turns to the much-anticipated contest with Tivi.

"I thought we were unlucky to lose the reverse fixture earlier in the season and hopefully we can put that right this time," said the boss.

"It's going to be a very tough game for us but we are confidence and will look for the win."

Defender Sam Prescott retirns from holiday and Mullen has no new injury concerns.
