IN the second week of the Alan Atkinson and John Smith League Cup Group A Pockets C hosted stable mates Pockets G.

The G side got off to a good start, winning the first two frames before C took the third frame with Reg Burton scoring 64. They lost the fourth frame by three points then lost the doubles frame as well and the match 4-1.

In the second match Workmans A hosted Pockets E who started with John Bettton scoring 72 and Tom Pepperall 77 and taking the first two frames.

Workmans hit back taking the next two frames through Gavin Brown and Martin Taylor.

In the deciding doubles contest John Betton and Tom Pepperall proved too strong for the Workmans pair of Gavin Brown and Rod Thompson.

In Group B Franche took on Pockets D. Franche's Rich Costello set the tone for the match scoring 74 with a 50 break in the first frame as his team completed a 5-0 victory.

Pockets S also won 5-0 against St Johns D.

In the final Group C there was another all Pockets clash with the H side hosting the B side. The B side got off to a good start winning the first two frames through Gareth Ward and Rich Pepperall, who scored 65.

The third frame was close with Rich Summers of the H side beating Dave Timmington by two points.

In the next frame Tony Kidd of the B side scored 91 to take the frame comfortably.

In the doubles frame the B side pair of Rich Pepperall and Tony Kidd won with Rich putting in a 33 break to make the final score 4-1 to the Bs.

The second match played featured St Johns E hosting Chester Road.

The visitors started well with Neil Chapman winning the first frame. St Johns hit back with James Allington scoring 63 to level the tie.

The third frame saw St Johns go into the lead through Martin Lippitt. Next came the doubles frame with the St Johns pair of James Allington and Dave Summers clinching the victory and scoring 72.

In the final singles frame Chester Road secured overall victory through Ray Pugh who scored 61 to win.
