CAPTAIN Neil Pinner says it's vital leaders Kidderminster hit back quickly following defeat against Himley.

KCC suffered a 10-wicket loss last Saturday after fielding a depleted team at Stourbridge Road.

The visitors had been hit by the loss of Pinner as well as Andrew and Richard Kimberlin before the game due to batsman Matt Pardoe's wedding. Connor Smith was also absent as the visitors were forced into a host of changes.

Ruthless Himley took advantage to bag their first victory in seven games thanks to Chris Borough's eight-wicket haul.

Kidderminster won the toss and chose to bat but were soon on the back foot as Boroughs struck.

Ben Twohig top scored with just 14 as KCC were bowled out for 78.

Himley openers Oliver Westbury (64) and Bilaal Hussain (10) made sure the home side reached their target without loss.

KCC now have back-to-back matches at Chester Road as they look to consolidate their place at the top of Division One of the Birmingham and District League. First up is Bridgnorth this Saturday (noon start) before Barnards Green a week later.

Pinner said: "It was a disappointing result against Himley but these things happen from time to time.

"It's very rare that we'll have that amount of absences but all we can do now is bounce back.

"The situation did give some others the chance to play and they can learn from it and find out a bit more about the level and the things they can improve.

"The main thing now is that we're still top of the league, have got a strong squad and can now push on again."

Pinner, Andrew and Richard Kimberlin, Matt Pardoe and Connor Smith are all due to return this weekend.

Meanwhile, Kidderminster's second XI continue to impress this season. A century from Mark Mansell helped them to victory against Streetly at Chester Road last Saturday.

The visitors scored 161 all out but KCC reached their target thanks to Mansell(106) and 43 by Ryan Field to remain second.
