KIDDERMINSTER captain Neil Pinner hailed his side's brilliant bowling attack after their victory over Barnards Green.

KCC maintained their lead at the top of Birmingham and District League Division One with a 96-run home success last Saturday.

Ben Twohig's 47 and important contributions from Pinner (38), Richard Kimberlin (29) and Simon Greenall (34 not out) pushed the hosts to 209 after being put into pat at Chester Road.

Ryan Tongue top scored with 46 in reply for the visitors but only three other batsmen made double figures as the Kidderminster bowlers went for the kill.

Connor Smith (4-27) and Liam Weston (4-16) were again in fine form as Green were bowled out for just 113 in the 53rd over.

Charlie Stainforth and Twohig took the other wickets.

Pinner was delighted as KCC made it back-to-back wins since their loss at Himley at the start of the month.

He said: "The seamers just keep winning games for us.

"We had a few nice performances with the bat. We started well, fell away in the middle but ended okay and we were pleased with our total in the end.

"We felt good at half way because it was a competitive total and we know how strong our bowling attack is.

"Liam Weston and Connor Smith were outstanding again. They started well and it meant we could go on the attack after that.

"We'd obviously like to be batting a little better and getting a few more runs but when you're winning games it doesn't matter as much."

Kidderminster will now took to extend their 30 point lead at the top when they go to third-placed Halesowen this Saturday (noon start).

"On paper they are one of the best sides in the league and we had a good game against them earlier in the season," added Pinner.

"It's important we don't take our foot off the gas now because we're only just past the half way point of the season.

"We want to try and open up the gap at the top and a win would be a big step towards that."

KCC have no selection issues ahead of the weekend and will be boosted by the availability of Matt Pardoe.
