NEIL Pinner and Matt Pardoe teamed up at the crease once again to help Kidderminster to victory over basement boys Wellington.

The duo's key 100 partnership helped KCC to reach their 2019 target for a five-wicket win at Chester Road last Saturday.

The league leaders had previously restricted their visitors to an achievable total thanks to three wickets for Chris Steele.

Opener Pardoe was the star turn with his unbeaten 93 seeing his side home. However, it was his partnership with Pinner (63) that set up the success. The pair came together with the score on 73-2 after Shameer Ahmed (10) and Ben Twohig (9) had been removed cheaply by Wellington's Imran Arif and Dan Lloyd respectively.

Pinner was delighted with another win as KCC continue to lead the way at the top of Birmingham and District League Division One.

He said: "It looks a bit closer than it could have been after we lost a few wickets late on. Overall it as another good performance from us.

"It was also good to see some different guys stepping up. It's been a feature for us this season that we have shared out the wickets and runs and that was the case against Wellington. Others have stepped up when we've needed them.

"Liam Weston and Connor Smith have been superb but Chris Steele got among the wickets and was well supported by Charlie Stainforth."

On his partnership with Pardoe, he added: "We've done that a lot over the years and it has got to the point where we hardly need to call for runs anymore.

"We managed to put that partnership to together and it was really good fun. He has also put together a really good knock to be 93 not out.

"Once we got through the new ball we did really well. It got a bit nervy at the end when we lost a few wickets but we made sure we got the win."

Kidderminster's attention now turns to this Saturday's much-anticipated top-of-the-table clash at second-placed Shifnal.

The game also sees a return to the win-lose 50-over format.

KCC could take a massive step toward promotion if they are able to extend their current 47-point lead over their title rivals.

Pinner said: "They beat us at our place earlier in the season so it would be good to go there and avenge that.

"The pitch that day was a bit dodgy after some rain the night before so we'll look to put it right.

"It would be a big step towards winning the league and is a good chance to extend our lead at the top.

"We mainly just want to keep winning games now and pick up as many points as possible. We want to win the league but if we can break records and do something special then why not?"
